Cleaning Stainless Steel Tile

Stainless steel is easy to clean. Wash with soap or a mild detergent and warm water followed by a clean water rinse. Our stainless steel tile can also be cleaned with readily available stainless steel cleaning products. We recommend a two-part product that is a cleaner and polish in one. The polish leaves a surface that is resistant to fingerprints and makes the tile easier to clean. We offer Sheila Shine on our website, but you may be able to find it locally. There are other excellent cleaner/polishes that you can also find locally.

Cleaning DSP Stainless Steel Tile with NCC

DSP tile with the nanoceramic coating (NCC) is actively anti-bacterial and fingerprint resistant. For cleaning, we recommend the following:

Surface Issue Cleaning Method
Finger Prints Wash with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel.
Label, Film Residue Clean residue with alcohol or a neutral detergent. Rinse with a damp cloth and then dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Persistent residue can be cleaned with acetone and then rinsed with water and dried with cloth or paper.
Fats, Oil, and Grease Remove as much as possible with water. Remove the remaining smear with a neutral detergent or ammonia solution.

What to avoid with Stainless Steel Tile:

  • Do not rub with steel wool (wire wool)
  • Do not rub against the grain
  • Do not use bleach or hydrochloric based cleaning products. Instead, use a high-quality stainless steel cleaner and polish, such as the ones in our Cleaning Products section.

Most Stainless steel products will scratch from everyday use, however, these scratches will blend over time to create a unique finish or patina.
